Christmas tree lighting in Ringkøbing

True to tradition, the magic of Christmas is coming to Ringkøbing and it all culminates on 22 November when Santa Claus sails into town and lights the glorious Christmas tree in the town square.

The programme includes:

• 16:30 - Santa arrives by ship at Ringkøbing Harbour together with Mayor Hans Østergaard and Musikværkstedet - powered by RingkøbingGarden.
• Parade from the harbour towards the square along V. Strandgade, where Musikværkstedet plays all the way.
• 16.50 - Welcome from the stage in the square by Caroline Byg Ejstrup, Head of the Market Town.
• Kulturskolen Ringkøbing-Skjern sings a few Christmas carols on stage.
• Father Christmas and the mayor are hoisted up in a crane, after which they are counted down so they can light the beautiful Christmas tree in the square.
• MusikVærkstedet plays a few songs around the Christmas tree.

Afterwards you can experience:

• Father Christmas sits down in his sleigh, where the children can say hello and tell him what they want for Christmas.
• The mascots Ragna and Mogens hand out jelly bags to all the children.
• Lions hand out free rice pudding in the square.
• Roasted almonds are sold in the square.
• The Scouts sell Christmas trees in the square throughout December and will start out this day with a small selection.
• The shops are open until 17.30.
• The eateries are open longer and are happy to host your evening meal or a hot drink.
