De skøre, de skæve og de virk’li’ sjove (The crazy, the weird and the really funny) - Exhibition at JANUS

Exhibition at JANUS about standing outside and having the courage to follow your own path. You might recognise it. Going left where others go right - finding your own path. What you can experience at JANUS - Museum of Contemporary Art in 2025 is similar.

The exhibition celebrates a number of artists who have each forged a career outside the established art scene. Their works offer surprising solutions, quirky motifs and a unique colour palette. The beautiful exhibition halls present the artists' favourite themes such as “I like everyday life”, “people and fools”, “below the surface” and “the fear of empty space”. Come by and dive into an art world that is hidden to many.

The exhibition "De skøre, de skæve og de virk’li sjove" is based on the JANUS collection, but is supplemented by a few carefully selected loans that support the narrative and complement the collection's works. Among the artists represented are Otto Poulsen, Anton Laier, Jens Arne Hansen, Hans Sandman, Ann Jacoby Lundén, Tøns B. Nielsen, Otto Frello, Børge Christiansen and many more.

Come and build!

The artist Otto Poulsen once said: "Art can come out of anything." This exhibition supports that.

In the Artist's Home room, you'll find all kinds of gadgets and gizmos that you can use to build whatever you like - according to your imagination. When you're done, you can choose to put your work on the shelf and let it become part of the exhibition, or you can take it home with you.

Remember that you can also capture your sculpture with a photo and share it on Instagram with the tag #JANUSBygger
