Hvide Sande offers some of the best herring fishing in Denmark. So good that herring is the centre of the evocative Herring Festival every year in late April.
The Herring Festival is held every spring and is the largest of its kind in Denmark. Every year in April, a herring festival is organised in Hvide Sande. When the herring come through from the sea and enter the fjord to spawn, a lot of herring can be caught and competitions are organised to see who can catch the most herring in the shortest time.
