Travel back to the Viking Age at Bork Vikingehavn

Take a journey back to the Viking Age and meet the Vikings, who in November are busy preparing for the coming winter and ‘jólen’ - the Vikings' midwinter festival and the forerunner of our own Christmas. There will be tastings of Viking cooking and the opportunity to experience beautiful Viking crafts.

Travel back to the Viking Age and hear the Vikings talk about what it was like to be a Viking in West Jutland. Experience them going about their daily chores, which they like to involve visitors in.

Explore the Viking houses, watermill and church. Make an offering to the gods, board the Viking ship or take over the Viking playground like a real Viking - the possibilities are endless and great experiences await.

Cooking and Viking crafts
In the Longhouse, the fire is roaring merrily, and over it simmers the pot with the autumn harvest of apples and grain - even added meat for the upcoming midwinter feast. Take a look inside, warm yourselves by the fire and enjoy a taste of the pot. The Viking harbour is also busy with various crafts and you can experience working with materials such as wood, leather and tin.

Meet the miller and light a candle in the church
In the water mill, the miller is busy grinding flour, but there is time for him to tell you about the history of the mill and the giant who lives in the mill and with whom it is important to stay on good terms if you want to avoid the good harvest going mouldy. You can also visit the Viking church, take a break, light a candle and let the silence settle for a moment.

Go on a mystery hunt
When you visit Bork Vikingehavn in November, you can also challenge yourself with an exciting mystery hunt. Families with young children will see if they can catch the ferocious Fenris Wolf, while adults and families with older children will try to solve the riddles of the gods.

Children and young people under the age of 18 are admitted free with an adult and dogs on leads are welcome.
